Is it possible to make sense of written English?

The answer to this question is YES  –  but only if you understand how the spelling system of written English works!

1. Some useful articles that explain how reading and spelling skills are acquired and how important it is to teach spelling as a foundation for literacy development.
2. Results from some schools that have been using Word Detective resources.
3. A wide range of videos and ideas for using them to support personal or in-school PLD for teaching early literacy skills and spelling knowledge.
4. A series of videos specifically focused on providing PLD for using the Sounds Like Fun approach used in the Shine Literacy Project.
